May 22, 2023National President (Worldwide), UNILAG Alumni Association, Engr. Ifeoluwa Oyedele, FNSE, has commended the University of Lagos, Faculty of Law Class of 1983 for its giant strides in sustaining the spirit of friendship, brotherhood and service to the University of Lagos.
Engr. Oyedele who was a Special Guest of Honour at the 16th Reunion and Dinner of the ‘Flagship Law Class’ which was held on Saturday, at the Banquet Hall, Mahogany Hotels, Ibadan, Oyo state showered encomiums on the Alumni set while making his remarks.
Reeling out the achievements of the Alumni Association over the years, the President reminded the gathering of the need to double efforts in giving back to the university. He noted that one of the recent contributions by the Alumni Association was the donation of a multimillion naira document scanner to the university to aid the speedy production of old students’ transcripts, among others.
The all-star event had in attendance Prof. Oyelowo Oyewo, Attorney-General of Oyo State who represented Governor Seyi Makinde, FNSE, and Justice Iyabo Yerima, the Chief Judge of Oyo State. Also at the event were Prof. Ige Bolodeoku, Dean, Faculty of Law who represented the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, FAS.
One of the major highlights of the event was the celebration of Professor Isaac Agbede, the octogenarian and Law lecturer who taught the set over 40 years ago. Other lecturers at the event were Prof. Taiwo Osipitan, SAN and Professor Vaughan.
The President of the Class set, Hon. Justice Idowu Alakija in her speech thanked her coursemates for their continued support over the years and announced that the set will be donating digital boards to the faculty to bolster the online lecture drive of the faculty.
Prominent members of the set include Senator Effiong Bob, the Chairman, Board of Trustees of the set; Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, CFR, Speaker of the House of Representatives; and Hon Justice Dotun Onibokun of the Osun State High Court, among others.
The set also boasts of having the highest number of SANs and judges of all the Law sets of UNILAG.
The event ended on a melodious note as Guests danced and bantered one another cheerfully, serenaded by the band.
