May 31, 2022Members of the various sets of the University of Lagos Faculty of Engineering Alumni (UNILAGFEAA) have flagged-off a Two Hundred and Fifty Million Naira fundraising program to finance various developmental projects at their beloved faculty.
This took place at the maiden edition of the UNILAGFEAA Luncheon which held at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja GRA, Lagos on Thursday 6th of May, 2022.
The event which was chaired by former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, had in attendance, the Executive Governor of Lagos, H.E. Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu, Deputy Governor of Ogun State, H.E. Engr. Mrs. Noimot Salako Oyedele, National President, Unilag Alumni Association (Worldwide), Dr. John Momoh, OON, who was represented by the 1st National Vice President, Chief Dr. Fassy Yusuf, FIoD, Vice Chancellor, University of Lagos, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, FAS alongside his team and a host of Akokite Engineers from both gown and town.
Welcoming the guests, the National Chairman, UNILAGFEAA, Engr. Dideolu Falobi, FNSE, made a clarion call to the stakeholders in the education sector to rescue the nation’s tertiary institutions from incessant strikes by innovative solutions and funding.
Also in his speech, Chairman of the occasion, Otunba Gbenga Daniel relived fond memories of his undergraduate days including the words of notable lecturers of his time. He also made an appeal to the guests to see to it that the targeted fundraising sum was achieved.
The guests were treated to a TED-talk standard presentation by Engr. (Mrs) Abimbola Akinajo, a 1988 graduate of Civil Engineering, UNILAG and CEO, Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) who showcased the efforts of the Lagos State Government in building network of trains and public transport systems to ease the movement of over 30 million citizens of the state.
Governor Babajide Sanwoolu in his speech, also relived fond memories of his lecturers in Unilag and also hailed the leadership of UNILAGFEAA for their fervor and passion towards the cause of the Faculty. He also declared his love for his alma mater and how proud he is to be an Akokite.
On her part, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Deputy Governor of Ogun State and former Treasurer of UNILAGFEAA, harped on the importance of networks and why members of the Alumni Association should participate actively in order to enjoy the benefits attached to it.
The event ended with donations from both individuals, sets and corporate organisations present and also presentation of appreciation plaques to notable contributors amongst whom was the National President Worldwide, Dr John Momoh, whose plaque was received by his representative at the occasion, Chief (Dr), Fassy Yusuf, the 1st National Vice President.
We say a big congratulations to the UNILAGFEAA family for the success achieved.
