Akokite emerges President of Consulting Engineers in Nigeria
February 24, 2022Greatest Akokites,
It’s with pain but total submission to the will of God that we announce the transition to the great beyond of a great Akokite, Professor Babatunde Ayodeji Ogunnaike.
Our salute and UNILAG tribute !
He is remembered as one of the most outstanding amongst not only Akokites but Nigerians at large.
Professor Ogunnaike bagged a First Class degree in Chemical Engineering in 1976 from our prestigious University of Lagos and afterwards proceeded to the United States for his postgraduate studies.
It is instructive to note that during his National Youth Service in Rivers State, the young ‘Corper Tunde’ participated in a national call to contribute to the composition of the current National Anthem “Arise O compatriots” – and most of his poetic writeups make up a large part of the second stanza of the Anthem. Interestingly, the second stanza of the National Anthem has now being adopted as a National Prayer at government functions and gatherings.
As we join his family and friends to.mourn his departure, we pray to the God of creation to grant repose to his soul, give his family the fortitude to bear this loss.
Keep resting Prof. Ogunnaike!
We love you but God loves you more! Adieu
As part of giving our last respects, please drop the Nigerian flag emoji 🇳🇬 on this post to celebrate this icon of scholarship and patriotism!
