It was a night of glitz and glamour as the Law Set of 1983 (aka the Flagship Set) held a grand finale of their combined 3-year reunion at the prestigious Radisson Blu Hotel’s grand ballroom on Saturday, April 9th.
Gracing the occasion were the UNILAG Alumni President (worldwide), Dr. John Momoh, OON, NPOM, Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu, represented by Mr. Moyosore Onigbanjo, SAN, (Attorney General of Lagos State), Vice Chancellor, University of Lagos, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, FAS and members of the National Executive, UNILAG ALUMNI Association – Chief Dr. Fassy Yusuf (1st National Vice President) and Chief Adebisi Ogundipe (National Secretary).
The Executive Secretary, Mrs. Yetunde Abatan and Alumni Relations Manager, Mr. Seun Badejo were also in attendance.
The night was one of fanfare and merriment as guests were serenaded to music by celebrity saxophonist BeeJay Sax and his band.
On the agenda was the handing over to the new Class President, Hon. Justice Idowu Alakija by the out-gone President, Hon. Justice Mobolaji Ojo.
The Flagship Set is so-called because it has the highest number of Judges, Learned Silks, Senators and other notable Legal Practitioners of any Set.
The President (Worldwide), Dr. Momoh, applauded the Set for their cohesion and formidable attributes and urged them to keep up the good work in supporting the Law Faculty and the University at large.
It is interesting to note that the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon. Gbajabiamila, and the Chief Judge, Federal High Court, Hon. Justice John Tsoho are also from the Set.
The reunion was their combined 13th-15th annual, covering the years 2020, 2021 and 2022 as plans for the prior years had to be deferred owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was tagged ‘Celebrating 40+ Years of Friendship’.
