Let’s give a standing ovation and doff our hats to celebrate an Amazon, a Goldfish, a Trailblazer, a Pathfinder and an Akokite who has not only broken the GLASS CEILING but shattered it in its entirety!
Hearty congratulations to Professor (Mrs). Folasade Tolulope, FNAM, FAMedS, on her emergence as the 13th Vice Chancellor of our prestigious Alma mater, University of Lagos, Akoka, Yaba – making history as the First Female Vice Chancellor of UNILAG!
A woman of many FIRSTS, she was the pioneer Deputy Vice Chancellor (Development Services, UNILAG) (2017-2021) and the first female Provost of College of Medicine, UNILAG (2013-2017). She emerged winner out of seven shortlisted candidates in a selection process that was managed by KPMG – a global professional services firm, the first of its kind in any tertiary institution in Nigeria!
Prof Ogunsola holds a Master’s degree from College of Medicine, University of Lagos, then proceeded for her doctorate at University of Wales between 1992 and 1997. Her research interest have centered mainly around the diagnosis and prevention of infectious diseases as well as antibiotic resistance. Professor Ogunsola has been actively involved in healthcare and manpower development and has been in Infection Prevention and Control since 1998 and she has attracted over 10 million dollars in research funding that has led to significant human and infrastructural capacity building in UNILAG.
On behalf of the National President (Worldwide), Dr John Momoh, OON, NPOM, Board of Trustees and National Executive Committee and over 400,000 Akokites across the world, we celebrate this symbol of DISTINCTION and ERUDITION on her groundbreaking feat! Congratulations Dear VC-Elect!
