In continuation of efforts towards reconciliation and inclusiveness of the University of Lagos Alumni Association, National President (Worldwide) Engr. Ifeoluwa Oyedele has charged the Oyo State Branch leadership on the need to rebuild the association.
Engr. Oyedele made this known when he visited the office of Engr. Wole Agbaje, Chairman/CEO, Idea Konsult Ltd, the first computer and ICT supplier in Oyo State, sequel to attending the 16th Annual Reunion of the 1983 Law Class of the University of Lagos with the theme, “Oluyole 2023”
The ‘surprise visit’ became congenial during the introduction of the parties as Engr. Oyedele and Engr. Agbaje realised they had a lot in common; both being Alumni of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Lagos and also the renowned academic citadel, Government College Ibadan, Oyo State.
The National President, briefed the multiple Award-winning entrepreneur and 1988 Graduate of Electrical Engineering, UNILAG, on the activities of the Association over the years and also made a clarion call to him in the task of reviving the UNILAG Alumni Association in Oyo State. He affirmed that UNILAG Alumni Association is today primus inter pares in Africa and the National Executive Council of the Association is determined to sustain the leadership.
While noting the importance of Ibadan in the economic landscape of Nigeria, Engr. Oyedele hinted that the National Association plans to hold its maiden annual reunion in the State come next year.
In his response, Engr. Wole Agbaje thanked the President for his visit and took time to intimate him of the history of the Oyo State Branch plus all the efforts to make the Branch virile. He said Oyo State is home to many prominent alumni of the University of Lagos including the State Governor, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde, FNSE. He promised to begin the process immediately and urged the President to use his influence and network to assist in getting the State branch active again.
The President had in his delegation, Alumni Relations Manager, Mr. Seun Badejo and Digital Media Officer, Mr. Jeremiah Olatinwo.
