Ta-da! We are in the news again!
Greatest Akokites and Idi-Arabaites, let’s rise to doff our hats to an Akokite who is making us proud far away in the United States of America.
Dr. Azeez Butali is a Professor in the Department of Oral Pathology, Radiology and Medicine, College of Dentistry, University of Iowa, Iowa City, USA. He, alongside a team of researchers at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos recently won a research grant of $133,526 from USA’s medical research agency – The National Institutes of Health (NIH) – to identify the Mental Health challenges among African Mothers and the children affected by Orofacial Clefts. (Don’t worry about the terminology).
The big news here is that – the NIH Grant is an addition to prior supplemental awards received by Prof. Butali, who is a renowned researcher and scholar in the field of Dental Health in USA.
Prof. Butali, after bagging a Degree in Dental Surgery/Dentistry from UNILAG in 2000, relocated to USA and has since been blazing trails and keeping the UNILAG flag flying high! He is indeed a worthy Ambassador! Let’s celebrate him!
