On the 2nd of October, 2021, Women In Africa, the global gathering of leading women in the media unveiled its 2021 list of “Most Powerful Women in Journalism” in Nigeria. A total of 25 women made it to the list.
As always, our Alma mater, known for giant strides and excellence, took 8 out of the 25 spots (one third of the total number). Furthermore, sitting on top of the list is Ms. Ijeoma Nwogwugwu, Managing Director of Arise TV, a UNILAG Alumna and graduate of Accounting.
Wife of the President, University of Lagos Alumni Association and Vice Chairman of the Channels Media Group, Mrs. Olusola Momoh (B.Sc Masscom, UNILAG) was also included in the Amazons list.
Other UNILAG ALUMNA on the list are Betty Irabor – Publisher, Genevieve Magazine, Toyosi Ogunseye -Head, BBC West Africa and Vice President, World Editors Forum, Azuka Ogujiuba – celebrity and showbiz journalist, Adesola Ayo-Aderele – Editor, Punch Healthwise, Ijeoma Onyeator and Maupe Ogun Yusuf – NEWS Anchors at Nigeria’s leading TV Station, Channels Television.
